But let's back up a bit, shall we?
I was born October 31, 1986 (and have the drivers license from two states, passport, social security card and the Underage Drunk In Public citation to prove it) in the scenic Midwest. The cool thing about being born on October 31st is that everyone celebrates my birthday, my way, by dressing up in a costume, whether they like it or not. Now, if I could just find a way to also make horseback riding (one of my loves) mandatory on Halloween, it would be perfect
I grew up in the burbs of Seattle under an older brother who drove me up the wall. I love him. I have a younger brother and sister. I drive them up the wall. I know they love me. We don't talk often and scarcely see each other even on a yearly basis. I sincerely hope the success of this company and my work in the entertainment industry changes all that.
I did the usual school madness of good grades, drama society, student government, and various sports and athletics. I got sidetracked a bit and didn't keep up with the sports as I'd have liked. Regret, but what can you do? I love movies and films, especially anything by Stanley Kubric. A most recent favorite of mine is John Cameron Mitchell, who succeeded in what I want to do one day; tell a story that embraces the reality of sex in our daily lives without having to leave out all the beautiful details. One day, I'm going to make cool indie films and I'm going to show it all.
I moved to San Diego in 2003, following my Mom, who'd come down here on her own. I moved originally to both be close to my Mom and to realize that dream of making cool films. I told myself that since I wanted to direct, I needed to be in Southern California. I'd come here, do my two years in high school, get residency established then go to UCLA or someplace similar.
Between me and my dream lay a few major obstacles.
Long story short, my mother failed to provide me with the stable home environment every growing, young adult sorely needs. Making ends meet in retail is hard. My boyfriend at the time had the idea of getting us into porn, so at the age of 17, I made my first porn film for Cobra Video.
I need to stop my story for another moment here and stress something. Since I now have lots of fans, many of whom dream of doing something like I did, I have to get it out there that what I did was wrong. You don't lie about things like that. I did. I was 17. That's a reason, not an excuse.
If you won't accept that bit of freely offered wisdom, then this bit is also for you: When you lie about an important matter, you have to own up. You have to come clean. It's the right thing to do. Of course, when I did that, things really got interesting. More of that in a minute.
Back to porn.
I learned that I love porn. Not just having sex, but really making the stuff directing, producing, finding models, figuring out scenes. It's fun. Also, based on my experiences while making other people's porn films, I figured out there's a better way to make my own, ways that don't treat models like crap, create limp sex scenes, and force you to fast forward through something that should be incredibly fun.
Remember what I said about when you make a mistake you have to own up to it? Part of my correcting my earlier mistake led to all of those legal battles you might have read about. It also led me to hastily creating a partnership that I thought would have my best interests at heart. The opposite turned out to be the case. All of the time, energy and expense I put into that company was wasted, leaving me with little more than a brightly colored bag of poo.
Part of life, it seems, is starting over again and again, each time a little smarter than the last. It's frustrating but and I'm guessing here! ultimately rewarding. BrentCorriganInc.Com is my latest reboot, my newest venture in my life.
With this site and the production company attached to it, I'm heading forward once again. I've got new footage, new films, and new fun heading your way. One thing has been a constant through much of this: you guys.
As I grow, as I live and learn, I'm going to continue sharing my experiences, lessons, hopes, dreams -- even pains -- here, in the open, for you folks to see and read. You all have been a constant in my life. Where ever I go, whatever I do, I want each and every one of you right there with me.
